Losing it…and finding it again

November 4, 2019November 4, 2019 ~ Helen White ~ 2 Comments

Appreciating the difference between feelings and emotions...and why this is just so important to someone (like me) on the autism spectrum.

How ingenious! I was looking around for an eco-alternative to paper giftwrap as our house has recycled and reused the same stash of paper and bags for a few years now but what we have is looking a bit tired. Not wrapping at all feels so sad…and I’d just invested in some small fabric pouches but what about those bigger and more awkward shaped presents? Plus I’m an artist and designer…I have an eye for patterns etc, I love “good presentation” and its all part of the fun to make something look nice but how?⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣But then I discovered Wragwrap, brainchild of Louise and Nicky who felt somewhat like me back in 2011. So they set about creating a range of eco fabric wrapping products that, through good design and tailoring, would be intuitively easier and quicker than paper, whilst still being a beautiful way to present any gift. The result is something that crackles like paper but is reusable and easy to wrap with due to a built in cord and button system (yes, even my sellotape-challenged husband should be able to cope).⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣The patterns across the range are also very beautiful and quirky. The design process involved professionals from across the textile industry, including: Kate Fletcher; Consultant in Sustainable Fashion & Textiles, Lucy Renshaw; Textile Product Designer, together with a handful of textile design graduates from De Montfort University…and you can tell as they are so contemporary and pleasing on the eye.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣I’ve just ordered my first stash and intend to build it up until I have a collection for all my needs.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣Brilliant!⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣#ecowrap #ecowrapping #wragwrap #christmaswrapping #christmaswrappingpaper #christmaswrappingideas #ecosolutions #ecofriendly #ecogifts #ecoinnovation #ecoideas ⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣
LOVE this kind of synchronicity! Guy called Mike from Dyno Rod came to fix my drain today…friendly guy so we got chatting…came up in conversation that I was vegan (as it does) and he said “Vegan? You have to go to my brother-in-law’s restaurant. Its just amazing, you won’t regret it…and it’s in London, Bartholomew Street”. He told me it was called Stem & Glory - what, a vegan restaurant in London I didn’t know about yet? So I went to look it up and, lo, its right next to the Barbican, exactly where I had been hoping to find a vegan place since we just bought tickets for a special gig there next year (kind-of my birthday celebration) but didn’t know of anywhere nearby that we could go so had assumed we would end up in Islington or Covent Garden as usual rather than close to the venue…which could be tricky, as we are on a tight timetable that night. But no, Stem & Ginger (and the guy from Dyno Rod) came to the rescue!⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣One look at their website tells me Stem & Glory will be where we are headed that night! Maybe even for breakfast if we stay in town (they do a vegan “english” till late).⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣Also thrilled to find there’s another branch in Cambridge (last time I went there, I struggled to find my kind of eatery…) and that they are considering a branch in Oxford (went there the other weekend and there is a sorry lack of dedicated vegan food in the city, so far, given its packed full of students…) which means am thrilled these folk are branching out and spreading the vegan word.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣So, all perfectly orchestrated, I would say!⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣#stemandglory #veganrestaurant #veganlondon #vegancambridge #wherecanieat #veganbarbican #plantbased #fortheanimals #healthyeating #synchronicity #serendipity #perfecttiming #spreadtheword #happyending #rightontime #divineorchestration
