So many of us feel like we are waiting for the other shoe to drop, breath held, with forces beyond our control seemingly holding all sway over our lives. All the more important, then, to corner some area of your life where you get to exercise the muscle of influencing things that feel creative and positive, whether this is a literal act of creation (and I don’t just mean art) or making decisions, taking actions, putting things in the diary that will help sculpt a better feeling about life, for yourself and others.

What our mothers have to teach us
Maybe thats the thing about oestrogen – it buffers us from ourselves until – suddenly no longer there, there is nothing left to stand between us and the life we have embodied for years and we are left to face up to it all, in one almighty effort. The brick walls that kept away the view we didn’t want to see, the unholy mess we didn’t want to deal with, is suddenly crumbled away, the view exposed and no avoiding it and so we either sink or swim as life’s full tidal wave comes in for us to surf or get crashed by. Put simply, we have to get our shit together really quickly or it can be all too much for us, whatever’s waiting on the other side of the thick smokescreen we put up. That mess could consist of terrible, habitual, lifestyle habits or a thoroughly rotten marriage – or it may just mean we need to make some tweaks and do some straight talking – but, whatever it is, there’s no buffer any more and we feel it – oh how we feel it all...
Dedicating a ceremony to YOU
Creating a ritual of self-care really works; it grounds that loving intention into a series of favourite acts that really work for you and which can be recalled, almost without having to think about them, when you most need them. When you wake feeling awful, when your body feels less-than, you might hardly know where to start with the desire to make that feeling better except for the ritual you have practiced and engraved into your life at times when you feel much better, feel most celebratory and playful. By reenacting these sacred ceremonies dedicated to YOU - and doing so often - you anchor them into the "ordinary" fabric of your experience and can quickly draw on them, adapt and make use of them when they are most powerful of all; which is at times when you feel you have lost that loving thread, lost your sense of appreciation for all that you are, have fallen off your physical perch. At the altar of yourself, you get to gently reenact a series of self-loving acts that brings you back online with yourself and remind you - like a softly spoken "I love you" in your ear - that you are cherished and deeply cared for, that what you are feeling matters, that there is no thing beyond this intimate pause in space-time claimed for yourself that is more worthy of your attention than you at this or any other moment; because, in your life, it all starts and ends there, in the infinite capsule of your consciousness watching the experiences of life unfold. Once experienced - and repeated over and over in the ritualised form - this feeling can never be lost and holds the power to transform any experience that could ever present itself to you, be that external or even pain in your body. What a gift to yourself on the path to self-empowerment and joy.
Recovery is organic
When health recovery is allowed to be organic, a journey that is as worthy as any destination, it equips you with a vast workshop of life-tools that enables you to fine-tune your own experience like never before. Nothing is ever lost or wasted and, you realise, you can always go back, can experiment, can venture further off track (in all aspects of life) than you ever thought possible in your wildest dreams; in short, life becomes unlimited and you learn something very important to know - that you are utterly unique and that no one can create your best experience of this life but you; this is one hundred per cent your journey. So you explore, you play, you recalibrate, you do it your way (and nobody else), you learn to trust yourself, you just know what to do next and you feed the good-nutrients of all the experience you have gathered into the roots of you next best experience, which is the ultimate in organic living. With all this painstaking attention to detail, you express your own worth in every moment; your sheer willingness to get your hands dirty, to pick up the pen and sign the dotted line to take responsibility for your own wellbeing, right down to every brass tack in your body, is the ultimate act of self-love. That's when things really start to happen...
Don’t be SAD…

Suddenly, a seemingly endless procession of gloomy days doesn't seem all that gloomy anymore but, rather, has become the very playground of creating your own best experience - and not just in this rather trivial-seeming way but in all things, putting you back in the driving seat as the creator of your own best possible life.
There's a mind-shift that is crucial to the recovery of any situation, not just in terms of health and its an absolute game changer, reaping results in no time at all. The whole landscape of recovery looks different in the early morning glow of such a quantum shift, all limitations are removed, fear has no place to reside as you are master of your own circumstances and this applies to any circumstance, not just chronic illness...
