Stomach issues, supplements and neurodiversity…what a pot of challenges!

Gut issues and neurodiversity is a BIG topic, affecting every single aspect of the nervous system and beyond. Diving in with some of what I've learned (the hard way) for myself as an autistic ADHD adult whilst hopefully offering some pointers and patterns to look out for.

Electrosensitivity and the Highly Sensitive Person

Being an HSP isn't a flaw but an evolutionary advantage, as has been amply demonstrated by science and history. We were always meant to be the natural outliers of the community, by design, so that we could be the first to notice important things that others miss, picking up envornmental cues and alerting others to any danger that we sensed coming our way. But what happens when our alarms start to go off all the time and when or how do we get a respite? How does this relate to the modern age phenomenon of chronic pain, fatigue and systemic meltdown?

The vagus nerve: leading us back to our health

There's literally nothing to lose and everything to gain from a healthier vagus nerve. Like all the best paths, it starts out a little mysterious but that's where its adventure lies. I've certainly had cause to explore it lately as its been found to have just so many links with the most chronic, mysterious, health conditions....and here's what I found out (to my benefit, maybe yours). So, having found it and become so much more aware of it, I like to think the vagus nerve is a path worth following as, so it turns out, it may very well lead us back to ourselves in more ways than one!

Vata dosha and electro-sensitivity

It was one of the first things I asked myself about vata dosha when I first read about it; since it is all about lightness, wind and air, does it make us vata types more susceptible to electro-sensitivity than people with other dosha balances? Several weeks into asking myself that, I am convinced that, yes, it does...

Wanting to land: working with a vata dosha

If you have a vata dominance, how do you ground that airy, high-spirited, out-there, mercurial constitution long enough to find your way about in a physical body...and then stay there in a way that feels comfortable and sustainable? Here's what I've learned so far:

Lion’s mane: Repairing your myelin

I keep noticing how nature has this weird and wonderful way of offering us clues to our own healing; often through locational juxtapositions (a cure found growing very close to the trigger "event") or visual clues. So when I came across Lion's Mane Mushroom as a possible route to repairing myelin, the coincidence of it resembling a sea anenome...our common ancestor when it comes to the evolution of our nervous system...took me aback and excited me, all at once! I just knew I was on to something...(read more).

Living with electro-sensitivity

Is electro-sensitivity really "Type 3 diabetes" as research now suggests? This would certainly fit in with my experiences of it. Here's a frank discussion of the symptoms of ES plus suggestions of how to live with it and make your home habitable again...plus an invitation to talk about these things far more openly instead of discussing them in the rather embarassed and furtive way that has become the norm. If this is you, you aren't alone - a lot of people (one estimate suggests up to 60 million people) are now finding their health is being seriously affected by a sensitivity to EMFs. Its time...not to make an enemy of technology but... to open up the discussion so access to technology can evolve along side us, not at the expense of homeostasis and good quality of life. For me, its been a challenging yet enlightening journey. Throwing in my two-penneth from personal experience...(read more).
